AEROSPACE AND DEFENSE includes a range of transportation, engineering, research and aerospace products and parts manufacturing businesses.

Greater Waco has more than 30 aviation and aviation-related companies that manufacture aircraft, components and materials.

The Waco Regional Airport, McGregor Executive Airport and Texas State Technical College Airport and four aviation curriculum schools in Waco and McLennan County speak to the future of this industry.

The commercial and general aviation businesses located in the three airports generates more than 3,900 direct and indirect jobs and a combined payroll of $143 million that creates an economic impact of $518 million, according to the Texas Department of Transportation.

When the off-airport aviation businesses are added, those numbers increase substantially

The WACO INTERNATIONAL AVIATION PARK offers property sites for aviation-related companies to locate.

The 1,024-acre park is located adjacent to the Texas State Technical College Airport, less than one mile east of Interstate 35.

Companies located in the Waco International Aviation Park benefit from access to two lighted parallel runways capable of handling full-bodied jets with more than 3.3 million square feet of apron space.

TSTC provides corporations with a highly skilled technical workforce, award-winning aviation / aerospace programs and customized training packages.

Waco International Aviation Park companies also benefit from Triple Freeport exemptions and a 400-acre Foreign Trade Zone.

The WACO REGIONAL AIRPORT offers property sites for aeronautical, commercial and light industrial development.

Development sites include 300 acres in the Westside Development Area, 20 acres in the Runway 19 Development Area and 90 acres in the Industrial/Commercial Development Area.

Major tenants located at the Waco Regional are Air Impressions, Blackhawk Modifications, CenTex Aerospace, Dart Aircraft and Ram Aircraft.

The airport is in a two-phase airport terminal expansion that involves replacing the fire station and runway safety area upgrades.

Commercial carriers American Eagle and Continental offer connections for Waco passengers.

Waco Regional Airport finished 2006 with a new record of 149,640 passengers traveling through the airport. That is a six percent increase from 141,663 in 2005 and the third year in a row of the facility setting an all time record for passengers.

The McGREGOR EXECUTIVE AIRPORT is home to Aurora Aviation and Aurora Avionics.

Expansion plans include new taxiways, more ramp space, a fuel farm and an extended sanitary sewer line.

McGregor Executive Airport offers 800 acres of on-field development with flexible configurations to meet the needs of clients.
